You know what’s awesome? When somebody is having a baby and I have a reason to make a blanket. You know what’s even better? When the colors and the pattern come together so beautifully it makes my heart sing. That’s a little dramatic, but it is nice when a plan works out.
Right now I’m working on a blanket for a friend that happens to be having a little boy. Boy colors are outside of my comfort level as I’ve only really done things in girly colors or my son’s hockey team colors.
The yarn I am using for this project (and pretty much every project I do) is Caron’s Simply Soft. I absolutely love the texture and the sheen of their yarn. It’s not snaggly like other yarns and it is completely affordable and available anywhere yarn is sold. Otherwise I wouldn’t use it because when I get an idea in my head, I want everything NOW. The colors I am using are white, soft grey heather, and soft blue.
With this particular blanket, I’ve decided to do a huge granny square following this pattern. I love love love her patterns! They are so easy to follow and the colors she uses are gorgeous.
Anyway, back to what I’m doing. My first 4 rounds were done in blue. Then 2 rounds each of grey and white. I didn’t want the grey to dominate the blanket so I followed the grey and white with 3 rounds of blue. Im just going to continue the pattern from row 5 until I get to a baby sized blanket. I will post more pics when the blanket is completely done but here is a sneak peak to tide you over.
